Trail Conditions

Brrrrr!/Emergency Plan

Not much change. The track remains fairly good( I think Bucky must have mixed a bit of his famous Epoxy recipe in with the snow) with a few worn sections. Bucky and I have pondered grooming but we both think it will be very difficult requiring multiple passes to grind things up and then most of the snow will be the transformed, ball bearing stuff(real fast), and the track won’t be as good, so for now we will leave things be and keep hoping the Nova Scotia Snow Godess sends some of her blessings our way. Glide will be a little slower this morning- likely close to 2.5/4 with the cold, sand like crystals of snow, speeding up to 3-3.5/4 this afternoon. Be careful on the hills- feel free to remove skis and walk down but please stay well away from the sacred track.
On another note, after a recent incident where someone fell and broke their ankle skiing, we have decided to review our emergency plan. Richard Elliot has agreed to take the lead on this- if you have suggestions you can send them to me and I will forward them to Richard. In the mean time, if there is an urgent or emergent situation call 911. The Tantramar Fire Dept. have an ATV with rescue sled and can access trails. You will be asked to drop a pin on a Google map to help them locate you so you may want to familiarize yourselves with how to do this. If you just need a ride on a ski doo, you can try calling me 364-5958 and I can try to arrange this, but can’t promise anything and this option does not come with trained fire dept. members. The first aid kits have been reviewed and are in each warming hut. Stay safe and stay warm.
