Doug was out bouncing around on the SWFP today without mishap despite not donning his survival suit. Having a very dominant Doubting Thomas gene, and possessed of a rather large amygdala, not that I am bragging, I thought it best to do my own research, so Dexter(reluctantly even though he is a Lab- not the science kind-) went out on the ice and drilled several holes. Near the edges where the ice melted last Wednesday/Thursday it was about 6 cm and disconcertingly clear but supported us both. Anywhere in the middles was 8-11 cm thick. The surface has been smoothed out by the sun and so far there are few cracks. Thickest access point was on the Birches at the final turn to the left where it was 8 cm thick. If you do decide to go for a skate be sure to take your safety equipment, or you can wait another day. Cheers,
