Congratulations to Tammy Wheaton, whose clever and whimsical “Quarry-Go-Round” nomination for the new section of trail from the cable to LeRond was the overwhelming winner with 45% of the popular vote. Kip’s palindromic “Rotator” was a distant second, no doubt hamstrung by that all too uncommon ski malady, rotator cuff tendonitis… Although not part of the formal rules( I knew a prize would induce far too much incentive to cheat and whine about stolen elections), I have decided to award Tammy a pair of the Manchester-designed badges with the TOC logo. Also,as part of the prize package I am here by awarding Wade Wheaton, should he choose to accept it, the privelage of creating signs for each end of the trail.
By now things on the trails should be slowing down. Glide should be well under 2/4 by noon except in shady areas where it may be quite zippy untli mid aftenoon. In other words, be wary of sudden exhilarations and decelerations. And as noted yesterday, likely best not to descend from the View down through Carter’s quarry due to plowing, and you may want to walk the first part of the Quarry road to the cable. Cheers,
