On a more serious note, now that it looks like we may be skiing again soon, I would like to remind all skiers about emergency preparedness. Our ski trails are mostly lovely, except when they are not, but they are in a somewhat remote area, with many areas lacking cel phone coverage.
When you are heading out on the trails you should have a “what if” plan. This might include telling someone you are going to the woods and when to expect you back, having a charged phone, knowing where to get reception(generally higher areas are best); having an emergency blanket, food and water. You should know how to find and transmit your location on google maps, “What 3 Words” or a similar app to give to the 911 folks if you need to call them; For minor problems you can try reaching Bucky, Ian or myself for ATV access, but 911 should be your go to resource for anything serious. There is now a “Rescue Sled” on the outside of the Groomer shed for Emergency use.
The students of Tantramar would like you all to write to the government demanding that when a snow day occurs on a weekend, they get a school day off during the week!!! Fair is Fair.
Finally, rumors from the foot of Squire Street are that Saint Buckler will be on the ATV sleigh early tomorrow morning plying his craft, delivering Joy for all to revel in. Although I was pessimistic this morning, there is a reasonable chance he will be able to set track with the old groomer(the “new” one I think is still in the shop😞
