Summer Group Hikes
Next hike will be on Sunday July 23. Meet in the parking lot behind the Sackville post office at 9:30 for car pooling, in order to get to the Joggins Fossil cliffs well before low tide at 10.51. Once on the beach there are two options:
- Walk the beach with the TOC group
- Join the 30 minute official guided tour starting at 11 by registering here on Joggin’s Fossil Cliff’s website. ($11.50)
On the way home we will stop at the Amherst Point Bird Sanctuary and walk the loop there.
This walk should be suitable for just about anyone – lots of options for shorter or longer walks depending on your need. There are stairs going down to the beach at Joggins.
Bring sunscreen, water, and a lunch or snack. And good shoes for the beach walk since there is the possibility of some scrambling. Joggins isn’t really a good beach for swimming, but that never stopped our kids from going in the water, so you might want to be prepared for that as well, as the tide starts to come back in. The bird sanctuary might be buggy.
