The snow that fell yesterday though not copious was quite dense so should afford skiability today. There was already a 2 cm base from the freezing rain the other day in open areas. However as always with these minimalist conditions, be cautious where ever there is softwood canopy with much less snow cover, and especially where ever there is underlying gravel- Crooked Tree Trail and Quarry-Go-Round. On flats and up hills the main problem is scratched ski bases, but on the descents the sudden deceleration of the skis accompanied by persistent velocity of the rest of the ski-skier partnership results in faceplants, somersaults and other most egregious misadventures. In the backyard lab where much of the snow is transformed the glide was close to 3/4 but should be a slower 2/4 up the hill, especially if you are breaking trail. I don’t think there is enough snow to groom.
