Trail Conditions

Of Bushwhacks and Bivouacs

I can report that coverage on the CTT is fine. Heading to the Pond is OK except the big hill before the turn to Doncaster Bypass, as well as the Bypass hill, which are barren and icey. If you survive the first descent then consider heading straight the old way over the new bridge, through the Doncaster Estate and carefully down the hill past the hay wagon loaded with wood. I did venture around Blue where lots of wet spots remain with subsequent bushwhacks, and even the possibility of Bivouacs if interested. Lower Blue(old Blue North) has been flat packed by the Smith’s and has lots of bare patches and a few bushwhackable wet spots. Yellow and LeRond remain fine but with minimal track, the route up toward Drop Off Ridge is nice as is the big hill from the Quarry down to the LeRond start(Be cautious coming down Carter’s quarry-left at the cable if you were going up) as there is protruding gravel where it was plowed last week. Waxless and skins should work fine, and if if you are a waxy, you are likely already out there enjoying your Blue Extra while it still works.. Cheers,
